Robert Passal and I went to college together.  When I heard that Robert had gone into interior design in New York City, I decided to look him up on Facebook.  Several lovely email chats later, and I've learned that Robert's web site has finally launched and he's recently been named one of the 20 New Traditional Designers by Trad Home (the soon to be digital version of Traditional Home magazine).  I'm so excited for him!
Here's a peak at Robert's stylish design portfolio~
As for our emails, aside from bonding over disco balls and fur throws, Robert and I chatted a bit about what influences his designs.  For Robert, it's mostly his travels that inspire him...lately trips to both Miami and Morocco.  He also likes to visit the Stamford Antique and Artisan Center, where he can often be spotted conceptualizing an entire room from a single unique discovery made there.  Robert  finds Julia Cameroon's book, The Artist's Way, to be a great source for design ideas.  By using this book's recommended technique of writing "morning pages", Robert has tapped into a clever way to get his creative thoughts organized and eventually beautifully realized.
To see more of Robert's work, you can check out his portfolio here.  Thanks Robert, it's been great reconnecting with you!
