Recently, New York Times Magazine,  did a piece on the director, Nancy Meyers.  The article focused on her use of fabulous interiors for all her movies, highlighting her latest endeavor, "It's Complicated".  Since the subject has now been blogged to death, I thought I would discuss another aspect of this film that is getting a lot of buzz lately, (at least it was, at lunch with friends last week), and that topic is the bags  that Meryl Streep's character carries in the movie.

Meryl Streep's casual bag, in It's Complicated, is Roberta Freyman's classic Cab Bag{top photo}.  Roberta Freyman has stores in Manhattan and the Hamptons, and she is known mostly for her lovely caftans and ethnic jewelry.  While the bag featured in this movie is not my particular taste, I am a huge fan of Roberta Freyman.

These are from her winter/holiday 2009 collection.   Roberta Freyman's clothes always exude such a sense of relaxed elegance and style.  A favorite among fashion editors (and now apparently movie studios, as well), her eclectic shop has been compared to an "explosive bazaar that encourages return visits".  I know this to be true, as I try to visit whenever I am in Manhattan, and, I can never leave empty handed.

This lovely bag, from her 2008 collection, is one of my favorites.

The other hand bag that is garnering so much attention is this gorgeous, lilac, silk, knot clutch from the Italian luxury label, Bottega Veneta.

I love all of the bags that Bottega Venetta designs, and this pale purple clutch is no exception.  It  really caught my eye, and apparently,  I am not alone, as sales of this clutch have gone up since the release of "It's Complicated".
