Shrooming

This was the first mushroom to pop up on my radar last year.  Part of Anthropologie's collection, no doubt tied into the Alice in Wonderland movie mania.  It's quirky, I thought nothing of it...

Last Spring, during a show house tour, I stumbled across these babies.  Each room was assigned a Broadway show as its' inspiration.  This was the "Hair" room, so the mushrooms sort of made sense.
 

Then, the lovely Alcira of The Nero Chronicles, spotted these at Houston's Urban Market!

Finally, last week over at The Cote de Texas,  I noticed this group of mushrooms, in an image from the December 2010 issue of Architectural Digest.

So what's going on here? Trend? Coincidence? I have no idea!  I just know that I haven't seen this many mushrooms since the seventies.  Which makes me wonder what's next, macrame wall hangings?
